Dreams and Visions
In America, sadly, dreams are
becoming a thing of the past. Dreams were what America was founded on and
dreams are what keep her moving forward as the greatest country in the world.
However, in recent years, dreams are in danger. The government promises that it
will take care of people. The government promises that it is “the savior.” The
government wants you to have faith in it. The most obvious danger to this
thinking is that one no longer trusts God. There is no need to! The government
is here and can be seen. God is everywhere and cannot be seen.
Those who place their faith in the
government can only have limited dreams because the government has only limited
power. Furthermore, the government thinks only of itself and the power it can
acquire. Thus, the true nature of the government is not to give you your
dreams. It is to give you what they perceive your dreams should be.
God, on the other hand, has only
your welfare at heart. It is his desire that you live the abundant life both
here on this earth and throughout eternity (John 10:10).
Acts 2:17 says, “In the last days,
God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”
Even though this passage has a spiritual connotation, I submit that it can be
placed in the physical realm as well. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no
vision, the people perish . . .” This passage has spiritual and physical
implications as well.
God designed us to have vision and
dream dreams. He designed us to look forward and believe that he will make our
dreams come true if we will but trust him. He is the dream maker. It is through
him that we have vision. One can only dream if one can trust in the one who is
in control.
Man places limitations on himself. However,
if man will trust in the one who has no limitations he can reach to the highest
heights.
Have Faith in God
Christians today have placed
themselves in a box. Worse, they have placed God in a box. They have decided
what God can do today and have stripped him of his power in their own minds.
Their lack of belief keeps them from believing God for great and mighty things.
Jerry Falwell once said, “If you are not doing something that is beyond your
control to reach, something that is impossible for you to reach, you are not
trusting God (paraphrase).”
God wants Christians to take control
of their lives. Trusting in God is the only way to do that; getting financially
free will help you do more for God than you could ever imagine. I believe God
wants us to take a risk. The paradox is that there is no risk if one is truly
trusting God and putting him first. Remember Jeremiah 29:11? God’s plan is to
prosper and not to harm us. However, God will not break his own laws to do so.
The curse of Man says that man must WORK! That means that nothing of
significance will come to those who are not willing to do what it takes to
receive it.
It is God’s will for his people to
work and glorify the God who loves them. It is his will for his people to be
obedient which means to work and bring glory to the one who gives blessings
liberally to those who seek his face.
