This
week I have been reminded of our freedoms. The freedoms that we take for
granted. The freedoms we have allowed others to die for. (Gal 5:1-13; 1 Peter
2:16)
God
gave His Word to us. He told Moses to read the Word to the people. God
continued to give us His Word. However, powerful men decided that we couldn't
handle it. So, they called themselves Pharisees, Sadducees, Priests and etc.,
and either imposed traditions not supported by the Bible or translated the Bible
to Latin; or both.
Then,
in the year A.D. 1517, Martin Luther realized that the Word should be available
to all. Therefore, he translated the word into common German for the common
man’s eyes to see and the Word was revealed in his 95 Thesis. He was persecuted
for it and many others would follow being killed for allowing the common man to
read the Word.
Gal 5:1
says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free . . .” That freedom
is the freedom of the Spirit that no man can contain. There is no way for one
to contain freedom that is given by God. Many believe that freedom is a state
of being. However, Christ states that it is a state of spirituality. He who is
free in Christ is free indeed. It does not matter if one lives in a world that
is free. Freedom cannot be taken away by circumstance.
