We Can Have Wisdom and Revelation in This Life
Ephesians 1:15 - 17 says:
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love
for all the saints, I have
not stopped giving thanks
for you, remembering you in my
prayers. I keep asking that the
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Where does the wisdom and revelation come from? It
comes from the Word of God which was given to us to comprehend the majesty of
his blessings. In short, it comes from his grace.
God’s grace is given through The
Father’s love, the Son’s sacrifice and the Holy Spirit’s power. The Trinity is
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is separate in characteristic,
but the same in power, love and grace.
The Father
The
love of the Father was shown to us through the sacrifice of his Son Jesus.
Jesus was sent to bridge the gap that was caused by sin. God’s grace extended
to us through his Son so that we might be able to live with him forever, which
was intended from the beginning. God created Adam to fellowship with him. Adam
broke the fellowship through his disobedience. Nevertheless, God in his grace
did not wipe man out. He sent a Savior, Jesus, to reconcile us to himself.
The Son
John 1:1-14 says:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. . . . The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Son came in
the form of man to walk on this earth as a blessing to man. He walked on the
earth to show us that he knows what we have to go through. He did not come to
this earth so that he could experience what we have to go through as humans. He
is the creator and knows all things. If not, he could not be sovereign. On the
contrary, he became a man so that we would know that he knows. He wants us to
know that he knows exactly what we are going through and can trust him to help
us with the solution.
Think
about it; if you have a problem, who do you seek counsel from; one who knows
nothing about your situation or one who might have gone through what you are
experiencing? You seek counsel from one you know has experience in the area you
are trying to recover from or move into. God came to this earth so that we can
be assured that he knows what we are going through. He has the answer for
whatever you are facing.
The Holy Spirit
This
passage Calls him “The Spirit of
Grace.” Basically, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father. The Holy Spirit
is also the Spirit of Jesus. Acts 16:7 says, “When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter
Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.” This passage calls the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Christ.
The book of Romans speaks of all three. Romans 8:9 says, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the
Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the
Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” This passage places all three
together.
