The
Believer Gives Grace
If you believe in Jesus Christ you also
give grace. Ephesians 1:2 says, “Grace
and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” As Paul is
writing the letter, he is giving grace. He offers grace to the reader.
Romans 1:5 says, “Through
him and for his name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people
from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.” If you
receive something, can you not give it away as well? Romans 5:17 says:
For by the grace given me
I say to every one of you: Do
not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has
given you. Just
as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who
are many form one body, and each member
belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according
to the grace given us. If
a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve;
if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage;
if it is contributing to the
needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Corinthians 6:1 says, “As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive
God’s grace in vain.” God’s grace is shown in you through the gifts he has
given to you.
1 Peter 4:7-10 says:
God continues to give his gifts
today. If he still gives the gift of giving, and he does, would he not have to
bless someone with what it takes to give? Of course he would! This includes the
poorest people in the poorest countries in the world. God still gives his
gifts! If we will ask, he will give us the gift we need to glorify him; giving
grace to everyone who seeks him.
Why
do so many Christians deny the power of God? Possibly they are afraid to ask
because God might say, “No!” Perhaps they only want the gift they want to believe
in, not the gift God wants them to have. It is difficult to get into the mind
of one who will not trust God for his total blessings, but that does not mean
that you cannot ask God for his perfect gift for your life. James 1:17 says, “Don’t
be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like
shifting shadows.”
Which
form are you to give out grace? Pray to God and ask him what he would have you
to do. God gives the grace. You are the vessel. He is administering the grace
through you. 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But
grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be
glory both now and forever! Amen.” That means whatever grace God has given to
you can be expanded. As you continue to walk in obedience to Christ, your grace
is administered to more so that they might come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Everything
God gives to us through His Word is so we can give it out again. God expects us
to administer his grace. How can we do that? By giving the Gospel of Jesus to
all we meet.
He wants us
to grow according to our faith. When you
begin to “work out” in the physical, your body grows in a healthy manner. When
you stop, your body begins to deteriorate. It is the same in your spiritual
walk. When you exercise your faith, God grows your faith. As we continue to
walk in his love we will grow in him.
God’s grace
allowed Moses to complete the assignment given to him. Even from birth God had a
plan for the life of Moses. God has had a plan for your life from birth as
well. Maybe your life does not have the grandeur that God had for Moses, but
maybe it does. Possibly God wants you to do something miraculous in your life.
However, if you do not step out, you will never know.
