Airports are a great
place to write. Here again, I find myself waiting for a plane and writing this
chapter. While sitting in the airport in Austin, Texas I was inspired to continue
to write. After one goes through an airport today, one reflects on the state of
the world as we know it. The most important aspect of this book is to
understand that God is in control. It is that “control” outside forces of the
world are vying for. It is the control that gives power. The more control that can
be imposed gives more power to governments and powerful individuals around the
world and less to the masses that do not understand what is happening.
There are many outside
forces (outside of our control) we are confronted with today. Nevertheless, the
power we have as Christians is to understand that God is not surprised by
anything that is happening today. He knows about terrorism, it is called sin. It
is no greater than the white lie you might have told recently. It is still sin.
James 2:10 says, “Whoever breaks the least of the commandments is guilty of
breaking them all.”
No matter how you want
to look at what is happening in the world, you must understand that these are
circumstances that must happen if God is going to fulfill His prophecy about
returning to get His children.
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no
one deceives you. For
many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’
and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you
are not alarmed. Such things must
happen, but the end is still to
come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All
these are the beginning of
birth pains. “Then you will be handed over
to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At
that time many will turn away
from the faith and will betray and
hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase
of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will
be preached in the whole world
as a testimony to all nations, and then
the end will come.
In other words, what we see happening today
must happen. Is this the end of the world today? It is impossible to know for
sure. However, God tells us that we will know the season. It would appear that
we are in the last moments.
